This was a great sucess and arrangements for the next Haworthia Convention are now under way. This will be our tenth Convention. It will be held, as previously, at the Hilton Hotel in Leicester UK, in October, 2009.

Full Colour "Haworthiad"
It was decided in October 2005 to upgrade the Journal printing to include full colour on all pages and also a colour cover. This arrangement first appeared in the February '06 Journal and has attracted a very favourable response from Members.
Italian Representative.
Alan Butler has kindly agreed to act as our Representative in Italy, so Italian Members may now pay their subscriptions through him.
Associate Membership
You may be pleased to note that we have a new category of membership -"The Associate Membership". This is intended for spouses or partners of Full Members (living at the same address). Associate Members will enjoy the same privileges as Full Members but will not receive a separate copy of the Journal.
Seed Distribution Lists
The Seed Distribution has traditionally been run on a "first come - first served" basis. However the Committee has become increasingly concerned that European and Overseas Members have been disadvantaged as their journal usually arrived a few days later than UK members due to the difference in postal delivery times - despite the non-UK ones being posted first.
To make this fairer, it has been decided that the Seed Lists
will in future be e-mailed to the European and Overseas
Regional Representatives who will in turn send them on to their
Members (All Members will still receive a copy of the Seed List
in their Journals).
Subscription Rates
There has been considerable discussion amongst Committee Members, and subsequently at the BGM, about our various subscription bands. Since the subject was last examined two years ago there have been significant changes in postal rates and also in currency exchange rates.(printing costs have also increased somewhat, but that is perhaps not quite so significant).
We have concluded that the fairest way to deal with this is to have a baseline subscription, to which is added the costs of posting the Journal to the Member's country. We therefore now offer four subscription bands composed in that manner, namely: UK, European (airmail), Overseas (airmail) and overseas (surface). Overseas Members are urged to adopt the airmail option if possible.
We also plan to examine the Currency Exchange Rates more frequently and are asking our Regional Representatives to alert us if they think significant changes have occurred. This will, of course, only affect Members joining or renewing part way through the year - once your annual subscription has been paid your rate is locked.
